Remain in Me
"Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." – John 15:4-5
“Remaining in Jesus” is the single most important task for a Christian to accomplish with his life. Which is why the Nordic church leaders unanimously selected this theme. According to Jesus, if we fail to remain in Him WE CAN DO NOTHING! We will devote the entire week of the Nordic Missions Conference 2018 to focusing on this foundation for our lives as Christians.
But what does it mean, “to remain” in Jesus? The Greek word in the original text had many different meanings, making it difficult to translate. The main ideas contained in this word are to abide, continue, dwell, endure and to stand. We will be exploring all of these different aspects of remaining in Jesus.
In case the breadth of this command overwhelms you, don’t be! You are not alone. God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, as well as the community of brothers and sisters around you, are all working together to help you remain in the Lord. Jesus explains why He gives us this noble calling of remaining in Him – so that the Father is glorified and that Jesus’ joy may be completely in us. This is our aim with our holy week together. Begin praying now and studying John 15. We look forward to seeing you.
